PumpkinFest is the Signature Fundraising event for the West Vancouver Community Centres Society (WVCCS) and a key opportunity for the Society to foster community spirit and engagement. WVCCS is a non-profit society that jointly operates the West Vancouver Community Centre, Aquatic Centre and Ice Arena with the District of West Vancouver. We respond to community needs and add value by raising funds to enhance District programs and services at these three facilities.
Thanks in large part to the funds generated from PumpkinFest, the Society has raised more than $360,000 for programs and equipment at the Community Centre. Examples of programs and equipment made possible from PumpkinFest proceeds include:
Movement Therapy: gymnastics and aquatics programs that have helped 60 children and youth who have physical and cognitive delays. A partnership with the school district and Vancouver Coastal Health.
Youth Friday Night Drop-in Gymnastics: the Dynamic Movement Gym is turned into a youth-friendly space where young people (Grades 6-12) can come to explore, test out and enhance their physical abilities on the various pieces of gymnastics equipment.
Youth Summer Volunteer Program: provides training to summer camp leaders to ensure that all summer campers feel included in activities and supported.
Access Lifts: ensure that users with physical restrictions have access to facilities in the Aquatic Centre.
